KGF wins in Kannada and Telugu - Bangalore Mirror
The box office collection of the
film KGF, which released last Friday has become the talk of the town. While there is talk of the film cross the Rs 100 crore gross, the film team says that the film has overtaken the collections of Raajakumara in the first week. Raajakumara is said to have grossed over Rs 60 crore in its entire run.
Speaking to our sister concern Bangalore Times, Karthik Gowda, the executive producer of KGF said, “We knew we had a good product in hand, but the way the film has fared over the first week has surpassed all our expectations. When it came to the dubbed versions, the film has managed to make a mark. Honestly, we wanted the film to just have a fraction of the first day’s collections of the first part of Baahubali, but the film ended up doing much more than what we thought.”
The Kannada version has been breaking records, with packed houses right through the week. “We had a very successful product with Raajakumara, but KGF has managed to match that within its first week itself. We are proud that two of the most successful Kannada filmmakers — Prashanth Neel and Santhosh Ananddram are associated with our production house,” adds Karthik.
According to trade analysts, the producer’s share in the first week will between Rs 26 and Rs 30 crore in Karnataka. This share is after deducting theatre rent and tax. The Telugu version of the film is also said to have done good business with a gross of Rs 7.5 crore. The
version may fetch the producer Rs 4-5 crore, it is said.
